Hartland, Wisconsin, is a village in Waukesha County along US Highway 16 about 10 miles northwest of Waukesha. It has about 9500 residents.
The original settlement was called Warren after Steve Warren. Later, when land ownership changed, it was called either Hersheyville or Hershey's Mills after Mr. Christ Hershey. Hartland may literally mean "heart land", but no one knows why this name was chosen later.
