Cassville, Wisconsin, is a village in Grant County along the Mississippi River where state highways 81 and 131 meet. It is one of the few places with a car ferry across the river - one which we have personally traveled on (from west to east). About 775 people live there.
Cassville was named for Lewis Cass, Governor of the Michigan Territory. At the time, that territory included present-day Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and the eastern parts of the Dakotas.
