Alma 729 |
Alma, Wisconsin, sits on the east side of the Mississippi River in Buffalo County in the west central part of the state. It's across the river from Wasbasha, Minnesota, and has just over 700 inhabitants. State highways 35 and 37 intersect there. Alma was named by W. H. Gates after the Alma River, the site of a famous(?) battle in the Crimean War.
If you're a birder who likes eagles, the adjacent Mississippi Lock and Dam #4 is the place to go. If you like ancient arms and armor, Alma's Castlerock Museum is the place to go.
