The correct spelling of this city appears to be Abbotsford, so the spelling on the precancel would seem to be an error. That said, the location was formerly called Colby Junction and was renamed in honor of Edwin H. Abbott of the Wisconsin Central railway. So perhaps both spellings are correct. (The city of Colby is adjacent to Abbotsford to the south.)
Abbotsford, Wisconsin, straddles Clark and Marathon counties in the central part of the state. It lies at the intersection of Wisconsin highways 13 and 29 and is just over 30 miles west of Wausau (on 29). The population is about 2275.
