Kiel

Kiel 708
Kiel 837

Kiel, Wisconsin, is a city in Calumet and Manitowoc counties at the intersection of state highways 32 and 67 about 20 miles northwest of Sheboygan, which is on Lake Michigan. The population is about 3800.

The Romance of Wisconsin Place Names and Wikipedia have quite different stories about the origin of the name. The book has Colonel Henry F. Belitz naming the township Schleswig which was later changed to Kiel...but that's a city, not a township. Wikipedia simply says Mrs. Charley Lindemann named it Kiel after her home town in Germany.
